NVIDIA has just put a first beta version of its 270 and 270.51 generation drivers online. A WHQL version should be here within a couple of weeks but the most inquisitive will now be able to get the beta on this page. These drivers cover all the GeForce 6,7,8,9, 100, 200, 300, 400, 500 and ION cards.
On the menu are numerous innovations, with NVIDIA announcing very high gains on the 266.58s in Dragon Age 2 (+326 to 516% on the GTX 580, +241 to 461% on the GTX 560) and notable gains in Just Cause 2 (11% on the GTX 580, 13 to 19% on the GTX 560) and to a lesser extent on several other titles.
They also introduce NVIDIA Update, an option that lets you know when new drivers become available, and 3D Vision is now included directly in the driver. Various other improvements have been made to 3D Vision, both in terms of performance and software and hardware support and the same goes for NVIDIA Surround technology. Finally, these drivers are also CUDA 4.0. |
