OCZ Technology has confirmed that it will be making new firmware available for the Vertex 2 and Agility 2 ranges allowing them to reduce the spare flash area from 27.2% to 12.6%. The SSDs at 50, 100 and 200 GB with the existing firmware will therefore have available capacities of 60, 120 and 240 GB after the update. Good news. OCZ is however saying that the firmware won’t be available for another 2 months.
