Micron has become the first to launch an SSD using the 6 Gb/s interface. The RealSSD C300 gives as yet unheard of speeds for an SATA SSD, with up to 355 MB/s reads and 215 MB/s writes. Micron has announced a PC Mark Vantage HDD score in the order of 45,000, which is 10,000 better than the best of current SATA SSDs.

The C300 uses 34nm MLC Flash NAND from IM Flash Tech, a Micron-Intel joint venture, and a controller developed in cooperation with Marvell with 256 MB of cache.
The impatient among you will have to fret for a while however. Planned in 128 and 256 GB versions at 1.8 and 2.5 inches, the RealSSD C300s are currently at sample stage but mass production isn’t planned until the first quarter of 2010.
