The successor to the Indilinx Barefoot SSD controller, the Jet Stream, was expected for 2010 given that the manufacturer website announced a first prototype for the second half of 2009. Unfortunately it looks like being a lot later with Indilinx telling us that the Jet Stream isn’t likely to be at prototype stage before the end of 2010, for availability in the course of 2011.
Jet Stream is a third generation controller. With its SATA 6 Gbps/s, it was designed to reach speeds in the order of 500 MB/s. It remains to be seen if other controller manufacturers will have the same problems.
