It looks as if AMD might already have a working version of its 12 core Magny-Cours processor. It has recently been validated in CPU-Z.
At 1.7 GHz, this prototype takes its place in a Socket G3 on the forthcoming Maranello platform based on the SR5690 chipset. Surprisingly, the L3 cache as reported by CPU-Z is only 10 MB, as against the expected 12 MB. The official launch is planned for next year.
