A couple of weeks ago, information was unveiled by OCZ on a new range of SSD drives, named Vertex Turbo. This range has now been announced officially and a few more details on the specs of these SSDs have been released. First of all, to confirm, they are based on the Indilinx Barefoot but, like the 64 MB cache, functioning at the higher clock of 180 MHz instead of 166 MHz. So then, overclocked SSDs in this range, with very attractive theoretical performances. Reads of 270 MB/s and writes of 210 MB/s.
OCZ also says that the Vertex Turbos will be equally economic in terms of energy consumption, as the Vertexes. We’ll have to wait and see whether this is the case in practice. In any case, they’ll be available in 30, 60, 120 and 250 GB versions at an as yet unconfirmed price but which looks likely to be 10% more than the Vertexes. |
