Thanks to the use of flash chips engraved at 34nm, Intel looks set to increase the capacity of its SLC-based X25-E SSDs significantly in the months to come. A 128 GB version is planned for the fourth quarter as well as a 256 GB model for the 1st quarter of 2010! We hope that the cost per GB will fall in comparison with the current versions. Otherwise the 256 GB model will cost 3000 euros.
The 34nm engraving process should allow the X25-M to reach 320 GB in its 1.8" and 2.5" versions in the fourth quarter.
