After Creative, XFX and OCZ, Fusion-io is now announcing a product launched under the name “Fatal1ty”. The company already has a reputation for its IoDrive, SSD drvies in the PCi Express format. This new SSD works on the same principle with a card in the PCI Express 4X format and is called IoXtreme. It has a capacity of 80 GB (with MLC chips) but it is regrettable that the manufacturer is not yet releasing any figures other than two benchmarks on its publicity material. These are however pretty mouthwatering, with 617 MB/s in Burst mode in HD Tach and 520 MB/s on average. It remains to be seen what level of performance it will give in practice. The IoXtreme will be available in July for 895 dollars.
