Hitachi / Intel deal on SSDs Posted on 02/12/2008 at 10:17 by Marc
Hitachi GST, one of the largest hard drive manufacturers, and Intel, a recent player on the SSD market, have announced that they will be working together on SSDs. Hitachi will be marketing SAS (Serial Attached SCSI) and FC (Fibre Channel) SSDs with Intel’s SSD memory chip technology under the Hitachi brand.
Hitachi is emphasizing the complimentarity between HDDs and SSDs, with SSDs much more economical and processing more I/Os per second. The first SSDs to come from the partnership will be out in 2010.
