Catalyst: 8.11 hotfix = 8.10 hotfix Posted on 20/11/2008 at 18:30 by Damien
The Catalyst 8.11 hotfix came online this week. We have however noticed that it is in fact identical to the most recent Catalyst 8.10 hotfix which was out last month and which gave improvements in performance for several new games. Did AMD mess up? We contacted the manufacturer who explained what’s going on.
The Catalyst 8.10 hotfix which was out on the 29th October was actually more up to date than the Catalyst 8.11 out on 13th November. This is because of the time needed to validate the WHQL pilots. So the Catalyst 8.10 hotfix was in fact the 8.11 hotfix. AMD couldn’t bring out a hotfix of a pilot that didn’t yet exist officially and so temporarily named it an 8.10. It’s correct name has now been restored: Catalyst hotfix 8.11. Clear as crystal, ain’t it?
