Samsung has announced that it has begun mass production of a new SSD with a 256 GB capacity. It was announced back in May in a 2.5” format and with an SATA-II interface, but in fact now offers even more mouthwatering features with sequential speeds of 220 MB/s (read) and 200 MB/s (write), a first from an MLC-based SSD.
To give you an idea, the current Samsung MLC-based SSDs (64 and 128 GB) offer speeds of 90 and 70 MB/s. Price and availablility not yet known.
