 ATI Catalyst 7.11
  Posted on 1195682940 by Nicolas

AMD has just put on line version 7.11 of its Catalyst drivers for Windows XP and Vista.

This time there is no improvement of performances but rather a number of bugs that have been fixed. Amongst these, there are most notably those that affected proper functioning of Bioshock, Call of Juarez in DirectX 10 and Crossfire, Doom 3, Fable, Hellgate and Rainbow Six Vegas in Windows Vista. In Windows XP, compatibility was improved with Enemy Territory: Quake Wars and Unreal Tournament 2004 amongst others. Finally, for Crysis, ATI says that the recent hotfix is still recommended.

 nForce 780i & 780a on the horizon
  Posted on 1195681389 by Nicolas

According to information from motherboard manufacturers, the nForce 780i chipset should be launched next month and widespread availability is planned for January. While we shouldn’t expect a revolution, given that the chipset is composed of an nForce 680i SLI and PCI-E 2.0 bridge, we can logically hope to see the arrival of 3-way SLI at the same time. A little later and still in the first quarter, there will be the release of another chipset supporting DDR3.

Major changes in the short term will instead concern the AMD platform because the nForce 780a SLI, alias the MCP72 with HyperTransport 3.0 bus support and PCI-Express 2.0 should not come too much later.
