Review: AMD Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition

Alan Wake

Alan Wake is a pretty well executed title ported from console and and based on DirectX 9.

We used the game’s High quality levels and added a maximum quality level with 8x MSAA and 16x anisotropic filtering. We carried out a well defined movement and measured performance with Fraps. The game is updated via Steam.

The Radeon HD 7000s do pretty well in this game, easily leading the GeForce GTX 600s which suffer particularly at MSAA 8x. The Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition gives a gain of 13% over the standard model at max quality.
