Performance with overclocking
We wanted to look at the gains it’s possible to obtain by overclocking the Radeon HD 7950, firstly in terms of the GPU, whose clock was raised from 800 to 1000 MHz, then the memory which was clocked up from 1250 to 1500 MHz.

We also included the results with a GPU clock of 900 MHz as this corresponds to the clock on overclocked models on offer from AMD’s graphics card partners.

These results were recorded at 1920x1080 at extreme quality:

The partner cards with the GPU clocked to 900 MHz show a gain of between 4 and 12% depending on the game, with an average of 8%.

At 1000 MHz, the Radeon HD 7950 is on a par with the Radeon HD 7970 with an average gain of 16% and when the memory is also clocked up, this average gain goes up to 20%, varying between 16 and 23% depending on the game.
