Report: AMD Radeon HD 6990, the card that breaks all the records

Radeon HD 6950 CFX: 2 GB vs 1 GB
We also wanted to show the difference in performance between the CrossFire systems based on the Radeon HD 6950 2 GB and 1 GB cards:

Having 2 GB of memory gives a big gain in Crysis Warhead as well as Metro 2033. Beyond 1920x1200 with FSAA 4x, it’s impossible to do any gaming on the 1 GB system in these titles. Note that in the case of Metro 2033, we weren’t running at 1920x1200 AA8x but rather 1920x1200 AA 4x + DoF.

Outside of these two cases, the performance of the CrossFire X system based on the Radeon HD 6950 2 GB cards is generally slightly lower than that of the Radeon HD 6950 1 GB cards, a phenomenon we also observed with the single card systems. The difference is however astonishingly high in Far Cry 2.

In surround gaming mode, using 2 GB takes on more importance and completely changes things once antialiasing is activated.
