Although individual game results are worth looking at, we have calculated a performance index based on all tests with the same weight for each game. Gamer and Enthusiast modes in Crysis Warhead therefore both get a coefficient of 0.5. Batman Arkham Asylum in GPU PhysX mode is not included in the index.

On average and in comparison to the Radeon HD 5870, the Radeon HD 5970 shows a gain of 30 to 45% in games, depending on the resolution. No NVIDIA graphics card can rival this level of performance.
While it is logical that the CrossFire system based on the Radeon HD 5870 should be in the lead, it's astonishing to see that two Radeon HD 5850s also regularly outperform the Radeon HD 5970, which is more powerful on paper. We're going to look at this in more detal on the following page.
