640x480: mono-GPU
Tests at 640x480, or in the lowest res offered by games if this one is not available, allows us to show up differences between systems in terms of CPU usage, at the same time as keeping in mind that these differences may come from the OS, the game or the graphics driver.

We observed certain difference between the systems here. First of all we note that the 64-bit version of Crysis brings a gain of around 10% in DirectX 9 mode, but this is slighter in the AMD camp in DirectX 10 and even negative for NVIDIA.

Overall Windows 7 does best and there is no significant difference between the 32 and 64-bit versions, outside of Crysis of course. Note however that performance with ArmA 2 is much better in Windows XP. Given that it seems evident that this isn’t due to any desire on the part of AMD or NVIDIA to focus on this OS in terms of optimisations for this game, we can conclude that the developer has probably not worked enough on the performance of its engine in Vista and 7.
