After Effects CS3
Adobe After Effects CS3 is back in our test protocol. We are using a new composition using various effects so as to render 3D animation. Multiprocecessing is activated so as to make the most of the available number of cores.
For the first time in the comparison, the QX9770 is in front of the Core i7-920. The difference isn’t very significant however and the other Core i7 models are well out in front.
Nuendo 4
We are now using version 4 of Nuendo, with patch 4.2. A new music project using various native plugins as well as 2 HalionOne virtual instruments was exported as a wav file (thanks to Draculax). As we mentioned previously, Nuendo is not at ease with SMT, which means that affinity with the Core i7 is forced onto CPU 0,1,2 and 3.
As in After Effects, we were forced to call on the Core i7-940 to beat the QX9770. The performance gains in Nehalem architecture are less in this application then, even if they are still there.
