LG Flatron L2000C L2000C...In the beginning, this name scared us a little base on our history with the L2xxC series. Take a look at the article on the persistence of images . It all started with the L2300C.
The second point that scared us was we caught LG several times for mistakes reported in their product description. These were not small ones: the L2040P announced as a IPS panel finally was a P-MVA and more recently the 1940BQ also announced an IPS that was a TN.
Here, until the reception of the L2000C, LG’s French website clearly reported a TN 8ms panel. At least, surprises and risks were minimised and we weren’t expecting much from such a panel as we know 8ms TNs by heart. We don’t even have to look at the characteristics to recognise their afterglow and viewing angles in movies.
It took us two seconds to figure out that the L2000C didn’t correspond to what was announced. We received another one and it was an IPS 8 ms. So the L2000C changes its status to a potential «new star. Also, this is the first IPS 8ms that we have tested. Compared to the Nec 20WGX², L2000C’s advantage from our point of view is that it has a mat panel. It also has total viewing angles, pivot mode, and a vertically adjustable foot. Is it perfect?
There is only a 2ms difference on paper but really means different behaviour in games. It doesn’t really compete with the NEC and afterglow is equivalent to an MVA like the Belinea 10 20 30W. This is quite logical because response times are the same for the two monitors. This is nevertheless satisfactory, because the good reaction time of the VA is coupled with the much wider IPS viewing angles. It doesn’t, however, display as well in movies. For design and ergonomics, the L2000C doesn’t resemble the more well known LG monitors. Its design is more sober and close to what we usually found for Sony (this is our humble opinion). We appreciate that it is vertically adjustable and that it turns to pivot mode.
