Samsung SyncMaster 204B
It sometimes happens that Samsung makes a mistake when filling out technical datasheets on their products. For example, for this 204B Samsung France writes that it is a PVA panel monitor capable of displaying 16.7 million colors with 160° viewing angles and a 5ms response time. The two first indications are incompatible with the following two. The reason is that this is a TN with 16.2 million colors. The other information is correct.

On paper, this monitor looks excellent. It’s a 4/3 with a mat panel that is supposed to be fast, with a pivot mode, DVI and D-sub inputs and is vertically adjustable. It’s a perfect competitor for the NEC 20WGX². Gamers will prefer this monitor for the more conventional format and the mat panel as NEC´s glossy panel can be disturbing in dark scenes where the user can see his reflection.

In addition, a Samsung monitor uses (and this is the case here) its own panel. For the past six months, this manufacturer’s panels came with good standard adjustments. Those of this 204B are rather good.

Unfortunately, the real reaction time of this monitor disappointed us. In the end, it wasn´t the best rival for the NEC 20WGX² in games.
