Fujifilm FinePix F710, 3 or 6 megapixels ?

Conclusion
The F710 is a fast, easy to use and intelligently designed camera. Photo exposure is reasonable without over- or under- exposed areas. Like many other cameras, this one tends to give colors that are slightly over-saturated. We don’t have much to say on this subject as it is the current tendency and consumers seem to enjoy this color quality.

Altogether, the F710 is a very good camera that is pleasant and efficient. However, to be accurate, it’s actually a good 3-mepgapixel camera. Contrary to the manufacturer’s marketing claims this camera shouldn’t be considered as a 6-megapixel. If picture sharpness is the only criteria (we put aside ergonomical aspects, speed and colors) the F710 isn’t able to compete with 6-megapixels, and not even 5 or 4-megapixels. There is even a 3 megapixels like the Canon S1-IS which provides more detail than the F710 6 MP mode. This mode should be considered as an improved interpolation of the 3 MP mode.

If it is considered a 3 megapixel, the 710 might be a little expensive. In our opinion, this is probably why the manufacturer chose to market this camera as something it is not.
