Summer LCD screen comparative test
by Vincent Alzieu
Published on July 12, 2004

Belinea 10 19 20
It is one of the best buy of this summer. Belinea is offering a top of the range 19" at a middle range 17" price! And on the top of that the color rendering is close to be perfect.
Inside is a quite old PVA panel (manufactured by Samsung). This panel was also used with the Hercules ProphetView II 191.

Ergonomics
Analogical and numerical inputs, rotating mode, possibility to adjust vertically the screen, internal power supply, wide vision angles, the 10 19 20 dazzled and impressed us. We appreciated finding such a big screen for the price of smaller and poorer quality screen.

Colors
Professional and non professional photographers will be able to enjoy a cheap, big and extremely color accurate screen. You will even be able to use it with standard settings as they are already accurate.

Interpreting the graph
X axis: 0 black to 100 white
If Delta > 3, the desired color is noticeably different from the color displayed.
1< Delta E < 2: colors are accurate
Delta E < 1: the result is perfect.

First of all, we would like to say color rendering is extremely impressive. All nuances are accurately reproduced. These results show that components’ improvements paid off. We encountered this panel in the past and never had such good results. Congratulations to the Belinea Team.

Inevitably we must take into account the product’s other characteristics. In our opinion, the brightness is too strong. The brightness is close to 200 cd/m² for white. A bit lower than average, but still far beyond the 100 cd/m² used for my own computer.

There again Belinea deserves praise. Once the screen is calibrated, adjusting a few parameters, the screen only needs 94 cd/m² for white and the color rendering is even more accurate than with 200 cd/m². This screen therefore receives the highest grade for this test: 5 / 5.
